Calendar for the 2016-2017 Season

The Calendar of our Meetings

Each year, we try to bring a varied, not to say eclectic, range of subjects to the fore, with the aim of providing an interesting experience to all our members and guests. Hopefully, we succeed.

Very occasionally, for reasons beyond our control, it may be necessary to re-arrange or cancel a meeting. The Meeting Status indicator will be updated to amber if the meeting is under review, or red if the meeting has been cancelled. Full details will appear here

Calendar for the 2016-2017 Season

To make things clearer, we've colour coded the type of meeting:

[    ] Blue is for regular Members' Evenings,

[    ] Green is for Evenings where a visiting speaker will make a

       presentation, and

[    ] Red is for the AGM. Be there, or be on the Committee next year!

6th September 2016

We have a tradition in our Club of Alphabetic Philately. Each Season we have an evening of Members’ displays based around two letters of the alphabet; one from each half. This year, the two letters are ‘E’ and ‘V’  The only limits are those of imagination!

4th October 2016

This evening we will be welcoming members of the Preston Philatelic Society to our meeting, complete with a Table-Top Sale. All members and visitors  may bring priced items for sale.

1st November 2016

This evening we will be entertained and informed by our first Guest Speaker of the year. Peter Kirk from Macclesfield Philatelic Society, and Treasurer of the NWFed, will tell us more about ‘The Three Kings.’

6th December 2016

We all enjoyed our Christmas Dinner last year, so again this year we will combine our December meeting with a satisfying collation of turkey and plum pudding, or whatever else takes our fancy.

Names and menu choices are required by mid-November please.

3rd January 2017

Our Members’ Evening this evening will start with a presentation of ‘Road Safety’ by Brian Kipps. Where we go from there will be discovered in due course!

7th February 2017

Norman Hudson from Ellesmere Port Philatelic Society is our second Guest Speaker of the season. His theme will be ‘Scottish Islands.’

7th March 2017

This evening’s meeting will see us welcoming visiting members from the Northwich Philatelic Society.

4th April 2017  COMPETITION EVENING

This evening sees the competition for the Leonard Rimmer Trophy. Entries for this Open competition are to be on nine sheets, and exclude thematic material. For more detail please consult the Competition Rules, linked below left.

2nd May 2017 THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Not just the AGM, but also the Club Auction, where the success of the sales can have a marked effect on the subscription for the coming year! So, if you want a say in who is on the Committee next year (or even who is not!) don’t forget to turn up!

6th June 2017

It has become traditional in our Club that the last evening of the season should be dedicated to postcards. The theme for this year’s evening will be posted in due course, but NOT second class.
