Although it might seem that electronic mail is the enemy of stamps and postal history, it is worth remembering that in 1840, the penny post, pre-paid by a new-fangled, stick-on ‘label’ was also a new and revolutionary means of communication. If our forebears had ignored it and hoped it would go away, we wouldn’t have our interesting hobby today.
